Board of Mission

In our own back yard

For the immediate community, we operate an Out of the Cold program that provides sanctuary, food and a caring, Christian climate for those in need. We complement this program by providing a Ministry to transients and the distribution of food vouchers.

We support the House of Compassion, a home for those with mental illness who have "fallen through the cracks". We support residents with prayer, in many volunteer activities and financially. We support the work of Matthew House, an interim home for refugees. And we participate in a Churches-on-the-Hill Food Bank that operates out of Timothy Eaton Memorial Church. We also provide support for various Toronto missions, such as the Yonge Street Mission. And we sponsor a thriving Meals on Wheels program.

These are only a few of our outreaches to our immediate neighbours.

Around the World

As Christians we are called upon to preach (and practice) the Gospel to the ends of the earth. This involves:
  • support for church work throughout the world through contributions to the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec
  • support for the work of the Baptist church in Canada through contributions to community chaplains, hospitals, McMaster Divinity College and pastoral ministries
  • fund raising for Sharing Way (relief, development and aid to the Third World)
  • support for various city of Toronto and Canadian missions
  • Support for selected individuals or refugee families (currently Burmese and Kosovar)

This is but a partial list of our mission activities.

We expect the Spirit will lead us in strengthening our existing forms of mission, and direct us to new creative forms.
