Discipleship and Spiritual Growth
The aim and goal at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church is to assist believers in Jesus Christ to be disciples.
In Matthew a disciple is to be light and salt. Disciples of the risen God are expected to preserve the world and show life’s true direction.
For Mark Jesus Christ is the ‘proclaimer’ and embodiment of the kingdom of God and the disciples enjoy an intimate relationship with Christ and share the ministry of preaching and healing.
The Luke text has Jesus call the disciples only after the work and ministry has grown to the point of needing assistance. Therefore disciples are expected to advance the ministry and be the hands and feet of Christ.
And in John the disciple are to be witnesses’ to God’s glory even unto death.
The course offerings, regular bible study, fellowship groups and special presentations serve as vehicles to living out the four very distinct views of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ presented in the gospel
