Yorkminster Park closed until further notice

Due to concerns about the spread of Covid-19 all places of worship in Ontario have been closed since the middle of March. Earlier this week the Government of Ontario announced that beginning this Sunday, places of worship can open to groups as large as one third of total capacity. Perhaps some of you are already polishing your shoes in anticipation. However, Yorkminster Park Baptist Church will not be opening our doors this Sunday as we do not believe it is safe to do so until we have an operational plan in place which will ensure safety for all.

We established a committee under the leadership of Carol Radford-Grant to formulate plans for our safe and happy return to our beloved place of worship. There are many details to be considered and so I invite you not only to be patient but also to pray for this group and watch for updates.

We are all so anxious to be back and to see each other again that this may well come as a disappointment, but thank you for your patience. We are not the only church to exercise caution. Entire denominations within our province have decided not to open their doors until at least September.

Meanwhile we will continue live webcasting our services each Sunday morning at 11 a.m. We thank God for this important ministry which has enabled us to reach out to the congregation and beyond during these challenging times.

While the doors are not open to worship we continue to offer many important ministries. If we can be of pastoral support in these days, please contact the Rev. Dale Rose. Be assured of our presence and our prayers.

PRAYER
Gracious God we turn to you acknowledging our vulnerability and fear in the face of this pandemic and ask that by the power of your Holy Spirit you might set our hearts and minds at ease in the peace of Christ which passes all understanding. We thank you for your Son, the Great Physician, Jesus Christ and commit those who are suffering and indeed this whole world into his care. We surrender our fears and pray for healing and hope. Guide the hearts and minds of all medical personnel and others who offer care and search for solutions. Bless and protect our church through this season that we might be instruments of your peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
