No one tells a story better than people excited about a journey. Our members speak:
Yorkminster Park’s Bible study groups and Alpha courses provide a welcoming and supportive environment in which to explore the word of God, its meaning for each of us, and the difference that Christ’s love can make in our lives. I am grateful to all the staff members and volunteers in the Church’s Christian Education department. My own journey towards embracing Christ as my Saviour and Redeemer was influenced meaningfully by their ministry.
— Daniel Cohn, new member
We need daily personal Bible study, and we also need to study in small groups, so that we can share our problems and joys. We cannot depend for our spiritual food on sermons alone. I can testify that it is so easy to let the cares of the world crowd out time for prayer and bible study. When I have neglected either of these important needs I have suffered severe loss in my Christian pilgrimage. Jesus Himself and countless of His followers set the example for all of us.
— Ed Fish, long-time member and teacher
It is in group Bible study where I grow most in my understanding of Scripture and fellowship. It is through the questions asked, the views expressed and the articulation of my thoughts that the understanding of the Bible expands. As people apply the passage to their lives and experiences, an openness and vulnerability develops that is the true foundation of fellowship, drawing the group ever closer to God and each other.
— Iris Armstrong, long-time member and teacher
In a large church such as ours, being part of a small study group is tremendously valuable, socially, and psychologically, besides the benefits of the actual studies themselves. The interaction between people in the discussion group often throws new light on a passage that seemed utterly familiar. We can't imagine life without regular Bible study.
