2019 - A Christmas Message from Peter Holmes

When I think of Yorkminster Park I also think of people who have been helped and strengthened through the service and prayer and presence of this church and they are many. Your kindness and love for friend and stranger makes it feel a little like Christmas each and every day of the year at Yorkminster Park. You are also a generous people and respond so faithfully to the needs of the church as we seek to do God's work.

It is true that 40% of our giving's seem to come in November and December and so as we approach the year end we do face a challenge to meet our budget and keep our presence vital and active. We invite you to prayerfully consider how you might assist us to continue to offer the love and support, wisdom and grace of Christ our Lord in word and deed.

Years ago, prior to my arrival at my previous church in Montreal, one of the interim ministers had visited a man who had not been to the church in a long time. When the visit came to a close the man handed the minister an envelope and asked him to put it on the offering plate on Sunday, but the minister gave it back to him and in a spirit of grace and warmth invited the man to come the following Sunday and put the offering on the plate himself. And the man did. Above all we are thankful that when God offered his gift of love to us he came at Christmas and offered it in the person of Jesus - God with us - Immanuel!

We warmly invite you to join us this Advent and Christmas Season as together we give thanks for the great gift of God's Son, Jesus Christ and the good news of his birth, death and resurrection and the new life we share in Christ. If you are not able to be with us through Christmas, please drop us a line and let us know
how you are and how we might pray for you. And thank you again for who you are and all you do. I do hope to see you soon.

Blessings,
Peter Holmes
