In-Person Worship Service Cancelled until Further Notice

Earlier this week Mayor Tory asked faith leaders to encourage their people to worship online rather than in person. In response we have made the difficult decision to close our doors and only offer online worship through until the end of November.

The decision is difficult because even with numbers limited by social distancing, it has meant so much to be able to open the doors and welcome people to worship and we know how much it has meant to those of you who have come. We thank you for your trust. What's more we have felt very comfortable doing so because our reopening leadership team led by Al Livy has established protocols making our church a very safe place to worship. However, in the end we all want to do our part to help fight this pandemic.

Whether the doors are open or closed worship will continue to be offered at Yorkminster Park on Sundays at 11 a.m. and we invite you to join us online. Locally and around the world many are unable to get to church during this pandemic and there are so few churches that have our webcasting capabilities, so we invite you to please share our webcast with your family and friends.

The decision to close our doors will be reviewed at the end of November in the hope of being able to open our doors again for some of the Advent and Christmas services. Christmas will not be the same, but rest assured we are now busy preparing some very inspirational services for the coming season.

During these days let us continue to keep our city and province in our prayers and let meDaleLily, or Heather know if there is any particular way we can be praying for you.

Blessings,

Peter Holmes

PRAYER
Gracious God we turn to you acknowledging our vulnerability and fear in the face of this pandemic and ask that by the power of your Holy Spirit you might set our hearts and minds at ease in the peace of Christ which passes all understanding. We thank you for your Son, the Great Physician, Jesus Christ and commit those who are suffering and indeed this whole world into his care. We surrender our fears and pray for healing and hope. Guide the hearts and minds of all medical personnel and others who offer care and search for solutions. Bless and protect our church through this season that we might be instruments of your peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
