Women of the Word
October 18, 2021, 11:20am
We will be studying the attributes of God each Monday from Sept 13th to Christmas, followed by a Bible study of the Gospel of Matthew until next June. The format includes the answering of prepared homework questions. From 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM is spent answering those questions with discussion and review, followed by at least 30 minutes or more for conversation, mentioning of prayer needs followed by a collective prayer time. Classmates are welcome to stay on the Zoom link for pastoral time and personal prayer. We take our study of God's Word seriously, yet we have time to get to know one another and have fun as a group. The group is mainly made up of more mature Christian women but we sincerely welcome seekers and new believers. We learn from one another about our awesome God and encourage each other in our walk of faith in God's Son, Jesus, the Saviour of all who believe in him. Led by: Suzanne Wilkinson

The Paris Library by Janet Skesllen Charles Paris, 1939: Young, ambitious, and tempestuous, Odile Souchet has it all: Paul, her handsome beau; Margaret, her best friend from England; Remy, her twin brother; and a dream job at the American Library in Paris. When World War II breaks out, Odile stands to lose everything she holds dear - including her beloved library. After the Nazi army marches into the City of Light and declares a war on words, Odile and her fellow librarians join the Resistance with the best weapons they have, books. Montana, 1983: Odile’s solitary existence in gossipy small-town Montana is unexpectedly interrupted by her neighbor Lily, a lonely teenager craving adventure. As Lily uncovers more about Odile’s mysterious past, they find they share not only a love of language but also the same lethal jealousy. Odile helps Lily navigate the troubled waters of adolescence by always recommending the right book at the right time, never suspecting that Lily will be the one to help her reckon with her own terrible secret. We welcome couples or singles of all ages. We all wish to know more about the Christian faith as we encourage each other along "The Way" of growing faith in Jesus. The group disbands around 9 PM, but time is always available for pastoral care needs for those who wish to stay for one-to-one pray. This year our Bible Studies will concentrate on the Attributes of God and the Gospel of Matthew. Prior to Covid, we met at a location in the Bayview and Steeles area, but since Covid, we have continued to meet on Zoom. There will be occasions when we will physically meet together once the pandemic allows. Led by: Suzanne Wilkinson

The Berean Class has been meeting at the church in the Red Board Room for over 30 years. The Class is interactive. Because so much of church life has been stopped because of the pandemic, the Berean class has been functioning throughout the summer of this year using zoom. The average class attendance is 18. It is our hope that we will at some time in the near future meet again at the Church. Also, it is our hope that in the future those who cannot physically attend, will be able to participate in the class by linking into ‘zoom'. Led by: Peter Ferguson
