Yorkminster Park Anniversary Sunday

A special worship service to celebrate the blessings of our history and heritage as we press on in faith.

The Rev. Leanne Friesen, Executive Minister, CBOQ will be our guest preacher. Reverend Leanne Friesen, who was previously the lead pastor at Mount Hamilton Baptist church for 18 years, recently begun a new appointment as Executive Minister of CBOQ in June this year.

She is also a writer and a frequent speaker at conferences and retreats around the country. Besides her general work at leannefriesen.com, Leanne also hosts the Instagram page "grieving.room" where she seeks to create space to process loss for grievers and those who want to support them.

We have chosen the last Sunday in September as our Anniversary Sunday because we have several important dates to recognize each year. At our current location, our sanctuary was dedicated in March 1928 as Yorkminster Baptist Church. Its predecessor - Bloor Street Baptist Church - opened in 1882, while earlier congregations on Bond Street and in the Yorkville area of Toronto can be traced as far back as 1829. We also celebrate the 1961 merger between Yorkminster and Park Road Baptist Church (which was founded in 1922). Now, as Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, we have much to celebrate!

There will be a reception with light refreshments immediately following the morning service. Please mark your calendar for this special service of worship with us.
