REQUIEM A New composition by Dawn King

The Requiem was written specifically for the voices of the Minster Singers. I can't tell you how fortunate I am to have this group of Singers! Also, I love the words of the Requiem and tried to write the music with the text as the catalyst. The Minsters usually sing the first Sunday of each month, which is a Communion Sunday, so the words are appropriate for ‘Forgiveness', 'Praise ‘, ‘Peace' and 'Eternal Rest'.

Bill Maddox and Peter Holmes have always been extremely supportive of everything the Minsters do, and the Congregation of YPBC are so receptive ....a dream situation!

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine
Et lux perpetua luceat eis
Te decet hymnus, Deus, in Zion
Et tibi reddetur votum in Jerusalem
Exaudi orationem meam
Ad te omnis caro veniet
Requiem aeternam dona defunctis, Domine.Et lux perpetua luceat eis.

Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord
And let perpetual light shine upon them
A hymn, O God, becometh Thee in Zion
And a vow shall be paid to thee in Jerusalem
Hear my prayer
All flesh shall come before you

Eternal rest give unto the dead, O LordAnd let perpetual light shine upon them.

Kyrie , eleison!Christe, eleison!Kyrie, eleison!

Lord, have mercy on us.Christ, have mercy on us.Lord, have mercy on us.

2. Offertory

Lord Jesus Christ, King of Glory, deliver the souls of all the faithful departedfrom the pains of Helland the bottomless pit.Deliver them from the jaws of the lion, lest Hell engulf them, lest they be plunged into darkness;but let the holy standard-bearer Michaellead them into the holy light,as once you promised to Abrahamand to his seed.
Lord, in praise we offer youSacrifices and prayers, accept them on behalf of thosewho we remember this day:Lord, make them pass from death to life,as you once promised to Abraham and to his seed.

O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world!Grant them rest.O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world,Grant them eternal rest.

6. My Shepherd
The Lord is My Shepherd, I shall not want for nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures.By still waters He leads me,He restores my soul.He leads me in the paths of righteousness.
Yea, though I walk through death's dark vale,I will fear no ill.For Thou art with me.Thy rod and staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table in the presence of my enemies.Thou anointest my head with oil.My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy, Shall follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord,Forever.
7. Libera me

Libera me, Domine, de morte aeterna
in die illa tremenda
quando coeli movendi sunt et terra,
dum veneris judicare saeculum per ignem.

Tremens factus sum ego et timeo,
dum discussio venerit atque venture ira:
quando coeli movendi sunt et terra.

Deliver me, O Lord, from eternal death
On that awful day
When the heavens and earth shall be shaken
And you shall come to judge the world by fire.

I am seized with fear and trembling
Until the trial is at hand and the wrath to come:
When the heavens and earth shall be shaken.

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine. Kyrie, eleison! Christe, eleison! Kyrie, eleison!
