Life Groups and Spiritual Growth

One thing that all of us have in common is that we are on a journey - an adventure of life - and we're not meant to journey alone. At Yorkminster Park we welcome you to journey with us.

Our Life Groups are opportunities for us to do life together, to share in the struggles and victories, the sorrows, and the joys. Due to COVID-19, some our groups are being conducted online, others have started to meet in-person at church. Check out the opportunities below. Unless indicated otherwise, all sessions are conducted on Zoom. If you have any questions, feel free to email Paula.

Singing Praises Life Group
Saturdays 5:00pm
Online
In-person at Belmont House 6:30-7:30 pm on the third Saturday

God does not owe us anything. How can we not sing praises to Him always? We remind seniors with dementia with songs of praises at Belmont House once a month. We have weekly singing fellowship (practice with joy) in between Belmont visits. Can't sing, no worries, you only need to come with a desire to praise Him. We need story and scripture readers and many other tasks.

Women of the Word
Online Only
Mondays 11:20am

We will be studying the attributes of God each Monday from Sept 13th to Christmas, followed by a Bible study of the Gospel of Matthew until next June. The format includes the answering of prepared homework questions. From 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM is spent answering those questions with discussion and review, followed by at least 30 minutes or more for conversation, mentioning of prayer needs followed by a collective prayer time. Classmates are welcome to stay on the Zoom link for pastoral time and personal prayer. We take our study of God's Word seriously, yet we have time to get to know one another and have fun as a group. The group is mainly made up of more mature Christian women, but we sincerely welcome seekers and new believers. We learn from one another about our awesome God and encourage each other in our walk of faith in God's Son, Jesus, the Saviour of all who believe in him.

YPBC Book Club
Online Only
Third Tuesday of each month from September to June (no December meeting)
7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Are you a reader? Do you like to discuss books that you have read? Then this group is for you. Join us in our casual monthly get together to share your love of reading with like-minded individuals. While we primarily read fiction, we do have two non-fiction titles on our list for this coming year.
At each meeting every participant is given an opportunity to tell the group their thoughts on the book, their likes, and dislikes, and / or how the book has touched them. Discussion follows where we can all comment on different aspects of the story.

Morning Brew
Online Only
Wednesdays 8:45am

Morning Brew offers an opportunity for men to meet for an hour on Wednesday mornings for a discussion on lessons from the Bible and how we can apply them in our Christian walk. The overarching theme is practical Christian living with a view to being better husbands, fathers, uncles, and grandparents. Typically, we start with a video presentation on the book from the Bible we have chosen to study over a number of weeks followed with a lively discussion. Men of all ages and stages of life are welcome to join us.

Thursdays 7:30 - 9:00pm

We welcome couples or singles of all ages. We all wish to know more about the Christian faith as we encourage each other along "The Way" of growing faith in Jesus. This year our Bible Studies will concentrate on the Attributes of God and the Gospel of Matthew. Prior to Covid, we met at a location in the Bayview and Steeles area, but since Covid, we have continued to meet on Zoom. There will be occasions when we will physically meet once the pandemic allows.
