Out of the Cold (OOTC)

OUT OF THE COLD is a ministry of hospitality providing nutritious hot meals, take-away lunches, toiletries, and companionship to unhoused and precariously housed people in a welcoming environment. The ministry runs from November to early April.

We will be starting up again for 2023/24 on Wednesday, November 1st and we're asking for your support. Here's how you can help:

OVERNIGHT SHELTER VOLUNTEERS
Overnight Shelter begins Wednesday, November 8th!

Winter 2023/2024 is fast approaching and the need for shelter has never been so high. In an effort to alleviate the suffering of the unhoused, Yorkminster Park Baptist Church will be offering overnight shelter every Wednesday throughout the winter, beginning November 8th, 2023. Capacity is limited. Please contact OOTC@yorkminsterpark.com for more information.

In the spirit of this mission, we are seeking volunteers to assist in operating this program.

Volunteers are needed for:
• Set up
• Overnight stewardship
• Morning departure
• cleanup.

ADDITIONAL NEEDS

SHOPPERS
Volunteers to shop for perishables once every 3 or 4 weeks on a Tuesday or a Wednesday morning. You would need to buy items such as broccoli, bread, yogurts etc. and deliver them to the church kitchen by 11:30am on Wednesday. If this is something you could do, please contact Don Deathe at don.deathe@gmail.com.

  Wednesdays from November 1, 2023, to April 3, 2024
• Volunteers to bake for our guests
• Donations
  New or gently used reading glasses and new underwear and Long Johns
