An Easter Message from Peter Holmes

Throughout this season of Lent, we have been reminded through our study of the Lord's Prayer that the Christian life was never intended as a solo journey. Nine times in the prayer Jesus uses plural pronouns. Not once are we taught to pray using the words me, my, mine or I. Instead, it is always our, us and we. We begin with the words, Our Father, which reminds us that we are all children of God and when we pray for bread or mercy it is always a collective prayer. In other words, we are not on our own.

As we approach Holy Week and Easter, may we become increasingly aware of all that Christ faced for us, of the great victory he has won for us and his abiding presence. Along the way to Easter, let us also say the Lord's Prayer slowly a few times each day, that we might come to terms with our need for God and our call to be part of God's answer to the prayer in caring for one another.

I look forward to welcoming you to worship on Maundy Thursday at 7:00 p.m.Good Friday at 11 a.m., Holy Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and Easter Sunday at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Have a wonderful and blessed Easter.
